Mortal Kombat 3 Video Gives Rare Behind The Scenes Look (VIDEO)

Mortal Kombat 3 Video

In the world of fighting games, few can eclipse the violent infamy of Mortal Kombat and its influence on the genre. The original Mortal Kombat took arcades by storm with its digitized graphics and combo moves, and later extended its success to the world of console gaming. The series has endured with multiple sequels, reboots, and more recent crossovers with the DC Universe. Now, co-creator Ed Boon has provided the world with a new Mortal Kombat 3 video that gives a rare look behind the scenes from an earlier time in gaming history.

Mortal Kombat co-creator Ed Boon recently released the new Mortal Kombat 3 video to his official Twitter account. The video shows footage recorded during the production of Mortal Kombat 3, particularly when filming the live-action actors performing the moves for the game’s combatants. We get to see the actors for Mileena and Jax having their signature fighting styles recorded, while goofing off in-between takes. We even see Richard Divizio in action as Kano, a role he originated with the first Mortal Kombat game.

The video also shows the cast in their makeup chairs, with Kano getting his mask applied and eye ready for special effects. A careful eye will also notice that Boon himself is in the video, being in the trenches of the creative process for the game. This is certainly a wonderful look back into the history of Mortal Kombat, and just how much fun gaming creative teams had even back before motion capture suits and HD graphics.
