Mortal Kombat 11 Fan Art Depicts Nicki Minaj As Tanya

Ever since NetherRealm Studios’ next fighting title Mortal Kombat 11 made its debut, the game has been able to tout significant updates to its bone-shattering gameplay, crisp visuals, and its roster of legendary fighters. One of the biggest inclusions of the latter has been UFC/WWE star Ronda Rousey, who provides the voice of series regular Sonya Blade. This celebrity casting has since inspired a number of personalities to be artistically depicted as famed kombatants, one more recently seeing Nicki Minaj in the role of Tanya.

In a pair of works by artist Carlos Gzz, the fan casting that nobody knew they wanted has seen Minaj adopt Tanya’s familiar yellow digs. The vibrant musician and actress seems pretty on-point as the pyrokinetic ninja, this depiction seeing her strike a battle-ready pose with her signature tonfa blades.

As of now, NetherRealm has yet to konfirm Tanya for Mortal Kombat 11. Following her previous appearance in MKX, a return for the series’ next mainline outing could potentially be in the cards, but it’s currently unknown how she could figure into the title’s new time travel-centric story. Perhaps one of NetherRealm’s teased character reveals could see Tanya back for another round, but fans probably shouldn’t get their hopes up that Nicki Minaj will take over the role.

Mortal Kombat 11 releases for Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on April 23rd. A beta session is scheduled to happen sometime in march.
