New Trailer for Prey Asks the Real Questions – Who is Morgan Yu? Watch the Latest Video Here (VIDEO)
One good thing about the horror genre, especially a title done well, is how much it can affect the player on a much deeper level that overt scare tactics. A new trailer for Prey does just that, gives viewers a taste of the deeper levels within the story. The trailer introduces a new alien type as well as interesting information about investing points into alien abilities. We also get a look at how your actions in the game make a difference and more on Morgan Yu’s relationships with those living on the station, especially the CEO of Transtar.
You are in the dark. It seems that Morgan Yu is having an identity crisis, with no idea who they are, whats been done to them, or even why. Every decision or choice you make will shape Yu, as well as how the game reacts to the him/her. This is where the game gets interesting. As you can see in the trailer, the player is able to decide between whether Morgan is seen as a male or female. It was made clear though that while the player can choose between the two, it may be possible that selecting the gender may not even matter in an environment where Yu doesn’t even know themselves. It is interesting to note that the developers throughout the trailer mention Yu as “her” or “she”.
The second part of the trailer delves into the Typhon side of things. Unlike most games with alien powers, gaining more and more of this may not be a good thing. The aliens on the ship will become more aware of Morgan Yu as more of their powers are gained. Some Typhon will hunt you. One in particular is the Nightmare – one who is introduced in the trailer. It is easy to see where investing a lot into the alien powers could be a bad thing. On the other hand, players could become more powerful than the Typhon, but at what cost?
These aren’t the only choices that will matter though. The people on the station are ones who Yu knows, even if they can’t remember. In fact, the CEO of Transtar is Alex Yu, Morgan’s brother. How players approach the task of how to treat those onboard the Talos will greatly affect the game, including the multiple possible endings. Players can choose to help them or not, but every choice does matter. Whoever the player chooses to help and how they deal with threats as they come will affect the overall story. It’s all up to Yu.
