Nintendo Reveals the Metroid Amiibo Unlockables in Metroid: Samus Returns

While Samus Aran fans were certainly surprised and elated to see the announcement of the long-awaited Metroid Prime 4 during the E3 Nintendo Direct this year, the sequel is still likely going to take a while to finish development. Hopefully, the release of Metroid: Samus Returns, a re-imagining of the Game Boy game Metroid II: Return of Samus, will help keep fans satiated until Metroid Prime 4 arrives. A new set of Metroid Amiibo were also unveiled at the E3 Nintendo Direct, and now Nintendo has revealed what both this new set and the previously released Samus Smash Bros. Amiibo unlock in Metroid: Samus Returns.

The official Nintendo UK website has listed the various unlockables that Amiibo owners can access in Samus Returns on the 3DS. The new Amiibo 2-pack which has a Samus Aran Amiibo and a Metroid Amiibo releases on September 15th alongside the Samus Returns game. The new Samus amiibo unlocks an Aeion Reserve Tank, which can restore Samus’s Aeion energy in the game, as well as some Metroid II art in the game’s gallery upon completion of the game. The Metroid Amiibo will reveal nearby Metroid locations on the game’s map, as well as a Fusion difficulty mode upon completion of the game. This mode comes with Samus’s Fusion Suit from Metroid Fusion.

Owners of either the Samus or Zero Suit Samus Smash Bros. Amiibo will also be rewarded. The Samus Amiibo unlocks a Missile Reserve Tank and exclusive concept art once the game is completed, while the Zero Suit Samus Amiibo unlocks an Energy Reserve Tank and additional music in the gallery upon completion of the game. These seem like some nice additions for the Amiibo owners. Now if only we could get a Ridley Amiibo. What do you guys think about these Metroid Amiibo unlockables? Let us know in the comments below!
