Metro Developer 4A Games Acquired By Embracer Group
Embracer Group has been on a spree lately having picked up Saber Interactive and now a total of seven more companies within the gaming world. Among them is 4A Games, who were the developers behind the wonderful post-apocalyptic horror adventure franchise based on Dmitry Glukhovsky’s Metro franchise. With the recent acquisition in hand, it would appear that 4A Games will have plenty of resources and time to expand upon the wold of post-apocalyptic Russia and the tale of Artyom’s adventures.
Along with 4A Games, the rights to the Metro IP and the company’s proprietary game engine have also been acquired by Embracer Group as a part of the deal. 4A Games CEO Dean Sharpe issued a statement concerning the deal, stating that the acquisition will help the developer expand on the Metro franchise. Sharpe also mentions that the team is working on a multiplayer experience for the franchise as well, but he made no mention of what that would look like. He did, however, state that the company is looking forward to building “a new and even more ambitious AAA IP in the near future.”
It was also disclosed that 4A Games will “operate as an independent studio under Saber Interactive.” For those who don’t know, Embracer acquired Saber earlier this year. With all of their powers combined, some truly wonderful stuff is surely on the way for fans to enjoy.
The Metro franchise is currently available for players on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. Are you excited to see what the developers do in the future?
