Metal Gear Solid Voice Cast Reunites For Heartfelt 33rd Anniversary Message (VIDEO)

It certainly doesn’t feel like it’s been 33 years since the original Metal Gear officially hit store shelves, yet here we are. Decades and many games later, the Metal Gear video game saga appears to be all but kaput thanks in part due to the separation of Hideo Kojima and Konami, though that hasn’t stopped fans from celebrating the anniversary of one of the best PS1 games ever made. Leading the celebratory charge is none other than Metal Gear Solid movie adaptation director Jordan Vogt-Roberts, who assembled some of the original game’s voice cast to issue a special message to the fans.

Jordan Vogt-Roberts recently took to Twitter to post a 2+ minute message in the style of the codec transmissions from the original Metal Gear Solid. The transmission features messages from Solid Snake, Otacon, Sniper Wolf, Colonel Roy Campbell, and Liquid Snake. The entire transmission is chock full of easter eggs from the games (like how Otacon really wants a girlfriend to live, for once), and what’s more impressive is the fact that the original voice cast are all present to reprise their roles. Check it out below:

If that’s not enough, Jordan Vogt-Roberts has taken it upon himself to release pieces of concept art every day since the anniversary, echoing what he did in 2018 for 31 days straight. The first piece is a triptych from @tgconceptart, the full version of the image at the top of this page.

The next released artwork is a vertical piece from @ELIANT-ELIAS depicting the evolution of Metal Gear. It is both humbling and impressive to see how far things have come in the decades since the original release of Metal Gear Solid. Check it out:

It’ll be interesting to see the other pieces Vogt-Roberts releases over the next 30 or so days. The Metal Gear Solid movie adaptation is currently in development, though there’s still no word on how long it’ll take to get off the ground.
