The Latest Nintendo Direct Wrap-Up – All Pokemon, All the Time (VIDEO)

Another Nintendo Direct has come and gone, and today’s Pokemon-centered stage housed some news from our beloved creature-catching franchise. Some of the highlights include Pokken Tournament coming to the Nintendo Switch, Pokemon Gold Silver Coming making its way to the 3DS, and some Pokemon Ultra news as well. Let’s break it down, shall we?

Pokken Tournament of the Nintendo Switch

The popular Wii-U title Pokken Tournament is receiving a revamp as it makes its way to the latest generation of Nintendo home entertainment. Under the title of Pokken Tournament DX, the latest title will introduce five new Pokemon as well as a plethora of other new features added to the game itself. Here are just a few of the details revealed:

  • 3v3 Team Battles
  • Online Ranked Play
  • Group Matches
  • Five New Pokemon
    • Darkrai
    • Scizor
    • Empoleon
    • Croagunk
    • Decidueye

Pokemon Tournament DX launches on the Nintendo Switch on September 22nd.

Pokemon Gold and Silver – 3DS Virtual Console

Pokemon Gold and Silver continue to be among the top titles in the long-standing franchise. During the event, it was announced that digital versions of these classic games from the second generation will be making their way to the 3DS via their Virtual Console feature.

Players will be able to trade and battle with their friends, much like other Virtual Console versions of previous Pokemon titles. The Pokemon Bank will also be available for those looking to transfer their finds to Pokemon Sun and Moon. This 3DS adaptation will be available on September 22nd.

Pokemon Ultra Sun and Pokemon Ultra Moon Coming to the 3DS

Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon will be revised versions of the titles that released on the 3DS late last year. Game Freak’s Junichi Masuda took to the stage to show fans why this jump was made and highlighted that the Ultra editions would have an “alternate story”.

New features, new pokemon, and a new narrative are just a few of the revisions made to the Ultra releases, though the team behind the titles were still tight-lipped regarding certain details. We do know, however, that the Ultra Sun and Moon 3DS games will be hitting a little later than the previously two mentioned titles. Pokemon Ultra Sun and Moon will be available for 3DS players on Novemeber 17th, just in time for the holiday season.

The Nintendo Direct event was extremely short this time, clocking in just around 8 minutes. You can watch the full conference in the video below:
