Meet Jarun Tann from Mass Effect Andromeda – A Salarian with a Political Edge (VIDEO)
A couple weeks ago, it was revealed that Kumail Nanjiani will be featured as a key part in Mass Effect: Andromeda. Very little was divulged about this character’s role or race, except for the description of “space frog”. We speculated that it could be one of two things – a Salarian or a race fans have yet to meet. Well, wonder no more! BioWare has revealed some interesting information on Nanjiani’s character today. His name is Jarun Tann – a Salarian politician with a bit of a “weasel-y” personality. Even though his role isn’t necessary that of a antagonist, it’s easy to see how his nature may cause or create some frustrating obstacles. Take a look at the video below:
I think he means well, but he also likes power. He’s excited, but also a little in over his head, but he doesn’t want anyone to know. He sort of plays up his importance in every mission. He’s trying to make sure the bad guys don’t win, and the good guys win and that he doesn’t lose his seat of power. So, he’s got a lot on his plate.
Nanjiani described the Salarian as “self-important” and “power hungry”. However, as time goes on and you interact with the character more frequently, players will witness the insecurities which hide behind the facade. Additionally, more is revealed about the moral dilemmas players may experience as they go through the story. Mass Effect: Andromeda is “morally vague” and often the right thing to do isn’t so straightforward. Choices aren’t just black or white, and that’s a more realistic approach to problem solving and interpersonal relations.
So, did you guess Salarian as well? What kind of obstacles do you think Jarun Tann will throw in the way of the Pathfinder team?
