John Cena has been easing his way onto the silver screen of late. Having a role in Daddy’s Home 2 and making an appearance in the Transformers Bumblebee is just the beginning of Cena movie news, however. It would seem that John Cena is currently in negotiations for a Duke Nukem film adaption as well.

Produced by Platinum Dunes, a company run by Brad Fuller, Andrew Form, and Michael Bay, the Duke Nukem film is in the very early stages of pre-production at the moment. Currently, without a director or writer, it seems the company already has a plan that includes John Cena. It is unclear whether or not Cena will take the role, however, he’s certainly an interesting choice.

The video game debut in 1991, featuring an amalgamation of action movie tropes that was molded into a cigar-smoking muscle-bound alien killing machine. Battling aliens to save the planet was the basis of the shooter that followed the same style as the original Contra and Metroid. A Duke Nukem film adaption would certainly be interesting and it would be exciting to see how John Cena fills the role.

The Duke Nukem film was originally in the hands of Dimension Films, and the torch has since been passed over to Platinum Dunes. The production company has also produced the upcoming horror film A Quiet Place, The Purge franchise, and also produced the Ninja Turtles films for Paramount Pictures.
