Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice VR Edition Announced, Arriving Next Week (VIDEO)

Hellblade

Players who have experienced Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice know just how intense of a ride the game actually is. Diving deep into Senua’s struggles with psychosis, the title has earned its fair share of awards since launch, and has been critically acclaimed by gamers everywhere. That said, a new VR Edition has been announced, and it is set to arrive next week.

Recently announced by Ninja theory with a trailer that goes into a bit of the behind the scenes action, the Hellblade VR Edition will be available for free to those who already own the game on Steam. In addition to this, those who purchase the title in the future will automatically receive the VR version as well. Check out the trailer below to see what exactly went into creating the award-winning title in virtual reality:

If you thought the game was immersive before, just imagine what it will be like in VR. For those unaware of what Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice is all about, here’s a bit more from the description on the game’s Steam page:

“From the makers of Heavenly Sword, Enslaved: Odyssey to the West, and DmC: Devil May Cry, comes a warrior’s brutal journey into myth and madness.

Set in the Viking age, a broken Celtic warrior embarks on a haunting vision quest into Viking Hell to fight for the soul of her dead lover.

Created in collaboration with neuroscientists and people who experience psychosis, Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice will pull you deep into Senua’s mind.”

Hellblade’s VR version will not be arriving on PSVR, however, as the developers have noted in the video above that they recommend the minimum of a GTX 1080 to power the title effectively. After all, it’s about immersion, and not much breaks that like horrible frame rates.

Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice is currently available on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, with the VR Edition coming to Steam for Oculus Rift and HTC Vive on July 31st.
