Halo Infinite Developer Responds To Microtransaction Concerns

With microtransactions steadily becoming more commonplace within video games, fan feedback towards developers that are implementing real money transactions into their games has been getting more ireful and heavy-handed. Just recently, it was revealed that Devil May Cry 5 would contain microtransactions for players looking to upgrade their character’s abilities quickly. While Capcom has since explained that purchasing red orbs is entirely optional and there have been no tweaks to the way they work in comparison to previous games in the series, that hasn’t stopped fans from swearing themselves off of the games. Now, it appears that Halo Infinite has become subject to the same angry fans, thanks to a recent job listing suggesting that microtransactions would be within this game as well.

The news comes by way of Twitter user @BaileyJIII, who posted an image taken from a job listing for Halo Infinite. The listing mentions microtransactions multiple times, with one of the listed responsibilities being to “design and deliver a AAA player investment experience that focuses on our fans and their desire to express their passion for our franchise (including but not limited to microtransactions).” The Tweet can be seen below:

In response to the tweet, 343 Industries community manager Brian Jarrard addressed the fan’s concerns by stating that the job description is simply standard fare for the industry. “I know there’s very little real info to go on thus far, but I wouldn’t worry over a job description,” Jarrard begins. “All pretty standard stuff in the industry, doesn’t mean it’ll result in something bad.”

Just a few days ago, it was also revealed by 343 Industries FPS studio head Chris Lee that Halo Infinite would not include real-money loot boxes. This accompanied by Brian Jarrard’s assurances should help assuage fan concerns, though you never know, a lot could happen between now and the game’s as-yet unannounced release date. We’ll just have to wait and see.

So, thoughts on the possible existence of microtransactions in Halo Infinite? Would such a thing dissuade you from purchasing the game?
