Fans of the turn-based mobile battle game may have something to get excited about as the Dark Side gets a little darker. EA announced at E3 today that Grand Admiral Thrawn would be joining the ranks for the legions of the Dark Side. Players will be able to have Thrawn join the battles against the Light Side in fights against other iconic Star Wars characters.

He will bring a lot to the table for the Empire. Thrawn will be the first character who is able to “cleanse”, meaning the character will be able to clear debuffs during gameplay. He will also be able to cleanse the abilities of Empire exclusive allies. On top of that, he will be able to manipulate turn meters for allies.

In the Star Wars universe, he was in the Imperial Navy and eventually took control of the fallen Empire after its defeat in Return of the Jedi. The character is described as a brilliant, but ruthless tactician. Inspiring loyalty in his subordinates, Thrawn was considered one of the most diabolical leaders of the Empire.

Grand Admiral Thrawn will be available in the Star Wars Galaxy of Heroes mobile game on June 15th and is expected to be joined by more Dark Side/Empire content that has yet to be announced. Players will use their Phoenix Squads to acquire him in normal Legendary events as usual. He will be free, but players will definitely have to earn him.
