Goosebumps Sequel Set to Hit Theaters in 2018 – Confirmed

Goosebumps Jack Black

If you were of the many who enjoyed the spooktacular antics of 2015’s Goosebumps, we have some good news for you. The fantastically spine chilling world of R.L. Stine is not done with us yet. According to the film research firm Exhibitor Relations, a sequel to the hair-raising horror-comedy has been set for a release date of January 26, 2018, just over a year from now.

Director Rob Letterman is set to return to helm the project, with Darren Lemke also coming back to write the film. Rounding out the announced returns are producers Deborah Forte an Neal H. Moritz. Jack Black is also expected to reprise his goofy portrayal of real-life book series author R.L. Stine. When the sequel was announced earlier last year, the goal at the time was to have Black return before the film moved forward.

It’s currently unknown what the plot of the yet unnamed sequel will be. The ending of the first film had teased a villainous role for the troublemaking Invisible Boy, but the filmmakers could theoretically scrap that idea for any number of scenarios from the Goosebumps lore. Here’s hoping for an appearance from the Haunted Mask, AKA the book cover that tormented childhoods.
