New Pokémon Movie ‘Detective Pikachu’ Finds Direction with Goosebumps Director

Earlier this year, Pokémon announced a live-action movie called ‘Detective Pikachu’  based on the video game released in February 2016. With Pikachu, brandishing an extremely deep voice in the Japanese trailer (as seen below). It’s really quite strange, but equally intriguing. Rob Letterman will be taking the reigns as Director for its release. Letterman was the director of the Goosebumps movie, as well as Monsters vs. Aliens, Shark Tale, and Gulliver’s Travels. Though his track record isn’t abundant, he is currently expanding. Captain Underpants, Dungeons & Dragons, and Goosebumps 2 have been announced, and will be under his direction as well.

Alex Hirsch and Nicole Perlman are the head writers for the movie, in script and screenplay with Legendary Entertainment leading the way. Perlman known for her role as a writer for the Guardians of the Galaxy movie, and Hirsch for numerous roles in animated series from voice acting to writing. Believe it or not, there’s even a petition running on Change.org, petitioning Dani Devito to voice the main character of the movie – detective Pikachu. So far, the petition has garnered over 50,000 people in support of this lofty goal.

With all the Pokémon news lately, and the craze of the handheld application Pokémon Go this Summer – it’s hard to believe where we have come since our youth. What happened to the Game Boy, Game Boy Colors, and Game Boy Advances since the days of olde? Would you say they have…evolved? Now they’re getting live-action debuts! What do you think, people peeps? Looking forward to Detective Pikachu, or are you dreading all this Pokémon hype? I would like to see how this movie turns out, and hopefully it does well in the box office. At the very least, I hope it turns out to be an enjoyable family film. We shall see!
