God of War Easter Eggs And Secrets Will Be In Abundance, Says Director

God of War Easter Eggs and Secrets

The incoming installment of the God of War franchise is looking to provide a different experience for fans of Kratos’ usual shenanigans. With the shift to Norse mythology, the game is set to be the Ghost of Sparta’s biggest adventure yet, which means more hidden things for players to discover. In a recent interview, game director Cory Barlog discussed God of War Easter eggs and secrets, and they are going to be everywhere.

Talking on the PlayStation Blog, Barlog touched on a number of things including the feedback he’s been hearing so far, how Kratos has grown, and more. When he was asked about all of the “little homages” that have been seen, he went on to say:

Oh yeah. I’m a lunatic when it comes to that stuff. There are secrets and references hidden everywhere. And I mean literally everywhere: We’re talking about physical packaging, menus, load screens when you hit the Options button, and stuff like that….

That’s one of the things I hope for a long time after, people saying “Did you know…?” I think that’s awesome. That’s the fun part about making games. There is a lot of complexity, but that complexity allows us to hide things that are really interesting and some that are really deep cut.”

By the sound of it, God of War Easter eggs and secrets are going to cover every single inch of the game. Of course, that’s not likely, but there will be a surplus of hidden goodies for players to discover. This will only make the already massive adventure that much bigger. Speaking of which, here’s a bit more about the upcoming title:

“His vengeance against the Gods of Olympus years behind him, Kratos now lives as a man in the realm of Norse Gods and monsters. It is in this harsh, unforgiving world that he must fight to survive…And teach his son to do the same. This startling reimagining of God of War deconstructs the core elements that defined the series—satisfying combat; breathtaking scale; and a powerful narrative—and fuses them anew.

Kratos is a father again. As mentor and protector to Atreus, a son determined to earn his respect, he is forced to deal with and control the rage that has long defined him while out in a very dangerous world with his son.

From the marble and columns of ornate Olympus to the gritty forests, mountains, and caves of Pre-Viking Norse lore, this is a distinctly new realm with its own pantheon of creatures, monsters, and gods. With an added emphasis on discovery and exploration, the world will draw players in to explore every inch of God of War’s breathtakingly threatening landscape—by far the largest in the franchise.”

God of War is set to arrive on April 20th for PlayStation 4. Keep it tuned to Don’t Feed the Gamers as we learn more, and for other gaming goodness going on right now, check out the following:
