Ghibli-Like Platformer ‘Hoa’ Announced For PlayStation And Xbox (VIDEO)

Ghibli-like Hoa

The world of anime is full of whimsy and wonder, with perhaps no singular source embodying that tone for the medium than Studio Ghibli. The legendary studio has produced some of the most beloved anime films of all time, and recently begun their foray into CG anime with Aya and the Witch. The studio has occasionally contributed to game projects, such as the Ni No Kuni games, but rarely has their style been applied to the full length of a title. Now, a new Ghibli-like platformer named Hoa is being confirmed for a release on PlayStation and Xbox later this year.

PM Studios announced that Hoa will be coming to PlayStation and Xbox later this year through their official Twitter account. The Ghibli-like platformer was announced previously for the Nintendo Switch and PC platforms for a release this year, and now it has been confirmed that the game will release in July for those systems as well as for PlayStation and Xbox. The game has players controlling the titular Hoa, as she traverses various earthy environments illustrated with a hand-painted art style.

The PlayStation 4, 5 and Nintendo Switch versions of Hoa will also see physical releases, on top of the standard digital versions of the game, that come with a postcard and voucher for the digital soundtrack. The PlayStation 5 version of the game will also utilize the DualSense controller’s features to further immerse the player in the game. This Ghibli-like game certainly looks like it will evoke the feeling that anime fans have had when watching a classic Miyazaki film for the first time. Let’s hope Skrollcat Studios can become the Studio Ghibli of the gaming industry.
