Genshin Impact Releases A Vtuber-esque Trailer Featuring Barbara (VIDEO)

Genshin Impact Releases Wholesome Trailer Featuring Barbara (VIDEO)

Genshin Impact’s recent Version 1.3 preview event featured loads of special announcements and info on what’s to come in the game’s next big update, slated to release early next month. One of the more fan service-y bits of content took place at the very start of the preview, with the ever-adorable Barbara taking the stage to have a one-sided one-on-one chat with the main character of Genshin Impact, the Traveler.

The self-proclaimed ‘idol’ from Mondstadt is asked by the Traveler what to do when they’re feeling down, which prompts Barbara to ask for “100 spicy-dried fish” in exchange for telling the Traveler her “idol’s secret” that cheers her up when times are tough. The entire thing is plays out like a Vtuber talking one on one with their audience, and as such it serves as a reminder that, despite the fact that Genshin Impact is at its core a gacha game, it’s a very, very well-supported one. Check out the video below:

As for other non-idol-related things on the horizon, Genshin Impact Version 1.3 is slated to release on February 3, 2021. The new update brings with it the arrival of Xiao as a playable character, the highly anticipated Anemo Spear user that makes his debut in the 2nd half of the currently released story. Players can also look forward to the upcoming Theatre Mechanicus tower defense-like mini-game, the Five Flushes of Fortune photography event, the arrival of new monsters to slay, and plenty more. Last but not least, players will be able to choose their own 4* character for free, though Barbara is unfortunately not one of the characters in the pool.

Genshin Impact is now available for PC, PS4, and Android & iOS devices. A Nintendo Switch port for the game will be releasing later this year.
