Genshin Impact's Raiden Shogun Gets A Heartbreaking New Trailer (VIDEO)

Genshin Impact players have been wondering for some time now why Raiden Shogun (the Electro Archon) has been oppressing the people of Inazuma with her Vision Hunt Decree. Both the Archons players have met thus far have treated their respective regions with benign neglect, so seeing an Archon take such a destructive interest in the well-being of their people in her strive for ‘eternity’ has been quite a surprise. Now, with the Raiden Shogun releasing as a playable character at the start of Version 2.1, Genshin Impact has released a new cinematic trailer that provides some heartbreaking backstory to the highly anticipated character.

Genshin Impact developer miHoYo has released the official character teaser trailer for Raiden Shogun. Simply titled Nightmare, the trailer reveals that the Electro Archon once had a very close group of non-human friends, though over time they appear to have become corrupted, which seemingly led to her fighting and killing them all one by one. Think a slightly darker take on the story behind the Geo Archon and Azhdaha. Check out the trailer below:

Of course, there’s likely a bit more to it than simply “I’m sad so now I want to keep things static forever,” as a recently revealed boss fight seems to suggest that La Signora may be partly responsible for the Vision Hunt Decree. These questions and more will likely be answered when Genshin Impact Version 2.1 releases on September 1st, 2021.

Genshin Impact is currently available for PC, PS4, PS5, and Android & iOS devices.
