Genshin Impact Dev Says Their Game Is “Very Different” From Breath Of The Wild
Genshin Impact released just a few short days ago, offering players a fun and visually stellar open-world adventure that, while free to play, still checks many of the same boxes as Breath of the Wild. As such, many gamers have begun calling the game a clone of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Genshin Impact developer MiHoYo has since responded to these claims, admitting that while Breath of the Wild was in fact an inspiration, their game is still “very different.”
In a recent interview with FreeMMOStation, a representative for MiHoYo confirmed that the studio held Breath of the Wild “in high regard,” though Genshin Impact still offers a notably different experience. “That said, it is important to note that once you actually pick up the game, you will find the experience of Genshin Impact to be very different from that of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild,” the studio said. “Genshin Impact features a fully original story and characters, and the core gameplay revolves around assembling a party of multiple characters and engaging in a combat system based on interactions between different elements.”
As we go from closed beta to official release, players will soon be able to discover the unique features and joy that Genshin Impact delivers.”
Genshin Impact offers a free and enjoyable open-world romp with what is thankfully a non-aggressive micro-transaction strategy. Genshin Impact is currently available for PlayStation 4, Android, and iOS.
