Gears 5 isn’t geared up for launch until Fall of this year, but the team at Coalition are prepared to pull out all the stops for an experience for Gears of War fans – single and multi-player fans alike. Diving into the latter mode, the studio reveals Gears 5’s Versus, showing off gameplay and various other details as they prepare for a “Tech Test” later this month. There will be 3 different modes to explore as you face head-on with other players online. Check out a snippet of gameplay footage below and details on how to participate:

Players will have several different features to explore as Coalition launches their Gears 5 Tech Test on July 19th: arcade, escalation, king of the hill, bootcamp, and tour of duty for PC and Xbox One owners. Beginning July 17th, participants selected for the test can pre-download the whopping 15 GB file, which will prepare for two separate waves.

The first will run from July 19th at 10 AM (PDT) until July 22nd at 10 AM (PDT). The second phase will begin July 26th at 10 AM (PDT) until July 29th at 10 AM (PDT). Here are the features eligible players will explore as detailed by Coalition:

• Arcade: A new approachable, frenetic Versus experience.
• Escalation: The pinnacle objective mode of Gears is back and better than ever.
• King of the Hill: Capture the hill, enjoy the carnage.
• In addition, you’ll also get to try out two new features of Gears 5:
• Bootcamp: Practice your skills and learn new mechanics in our new training mode.
• Tour Of Duty: Experience a mini Tour of Duty, where you’ll complete Medals to unlock exclusive Tester Weapon Skins to take into Gears 5. Complete all 3 Medals to unlock the exclusive Tester Banner to showcase in Gears 5.

The Gears 5 Tech Test is available for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate or regular XGP subscribers on PC and Xbox One. For more details on that, visit the official blog for more details, including the minimum and recommended specs you’ll need to successfully run the game.
