Gears 5 Dev Teases Entirely New Future For The Franchise
Eveer since The Coalition took the reins of the Gears of War franchise, the developer has been earnest about its desire to make its own mark on the iconic series. Having established itself as a developer worthy of the title with the release of Gears of War 4, the studio is now looking to take the series in a new direction with Gears 5.
The Coalition studio head Rod Fergusson recently took to Instagram with a new post that teases something he has “never had the chance to do” with a Gears of War game before which is, well, pretty cryptic. The post is accompanied by the image below, with 73| 3 appearing on a screen.

Gears fans are naturally answering the cryptic call to arms and have likely already begun trying to decipher what this means for the franchise, though this may not be enough to go on until we hear more. “What we wanted to do for 4 was just re-establish the franchise and establish The Coalition as a legitimate studio,” Ferguson previously revealed. “And we’ve been embraced by fans, and they loved Gears 4, and we feel like we’ve accomplished that goal. So now, Gears 5 is about bringing The Coalition’s personality to the game. Now we’re gonna see a bunch of innovation, a bunch of change, a bunch of things things that are really exciting that are really different, but still feel very Gears of War.”
Gears 5 is expected to launch at some point in 2019 for PC and Xbox One.
