Just last week, Games Workshop and Fatshark announced Warhammer 40,000: Darktide with a premiere during the Xbox Games Showcase. With the series recently surging in popularity thanks to a PC-building Superman, Games Workshop is aiming for AAA Warhammer games moving forward and they’re keeping themselves busy to make sure it happens.

What is known about Warhammer 40,000: Darktide is fairly meager since the information revealed thus far totals to a few pre-alpha screenshots and a cinematic trailer, but Games Workshop has big dreams for the Warhammer franchise. According to the latest annual report from said company (via IGN), they plan on creating AAA video games. “Our goal is AAA video games. We have signed multiple licences and we continue to negotiate many more, we will update you once they are announced,” the company stated. “At the time of writing, we have 73 licences and are signing new ones every 2-3 months.”

In addition to in-game collaborations with renown titles like Counter Strike Global Offensive and World of Tanks, Games Workshop is partnering overseas and creating merchandise to extend their reach to hobbyists around the globe. Furthermore, the Warhammer 40,000 animated series Angels of Death, Hammer and Bolter as well as Interrogator have finished production. So fans of the franchise have another treat to look forward to.

Warhammer games are a beauty in their own right and the loyal community doesn’t need a celebrity actor to tell them that (though it definitely doesn’t hurt)! They certainly appreciated it enough to create a custom character in Total War: Warhammer 2 named after him! With deep, wondrous lore, complex characters, and a massive universe – there are a plethora of untold stories – and we can’t wait to see what Games Workshop and team have in store for the future.
