Total War: Warhammer 3 Announced, Arrives Later This Year (VIDEO)

Total War: Warhammer 3

Developer Creative Assembly has twice delved into the fantasy realm of Warhammer with the Total War: Warhammer series, bringing the two well-known strategy franchises together for an all-new video game experience. Having proven very successful with the crossover series so far, it appears an anticipated third game is now set to be released later this year, with the epic announcement of Total War: Warhammer 3 in an all-new trailer.

All was revealed in the above cinematic and blog post, confirming Total War: Warhammer 3 will release for PC in 2021, with Linux and Mac platforms planned to be released in partnership with Feral Interactive shortly after. The all-new adventure is touted as having nine playable Legendary Lords as well as a greater variety of Warhammer races than previous games, including the notable in-game debut of Kislev and Cathay factions. As per Creative Assembly:

Deep within the realms of Chaos the four Ruinous Powers of Nurgle, Slaanesh, Tzeentch, and Khorne prepare for war and two mighty kingdoms stand sentinel: the stern warriors of Kislev and the vast empire of Grand Cathay. We can’t wait to start introducing you to the nine playable Legendary Lords that will lead these races into battle!”

In addition to arriving this year, Total War: Warhammer 3 will also release across Steam and the Epic Games Store, with cross-store multiplayer available on day one. In a further bid to consolidate content across platforms, Creative Assembly also revealed plans to begin offering cross-buy functionality between the two stores through Total War Access. However, the company stressed it “cannot guarantee this functionality at any point currently.”

The developer also looks to have plenty in the works for fans of the series so far. A free DLC was revealed to be in the works for Total War: Warhammer 3, which aims to collect the content of all three games into a “massive combined map.” Early adopters, or those who purchase the game within the first week of release, would also get access to a number of undisclosed goodies, which Creative Assembly confirmed will be detailed “in the coming months.”

Total War: Warhammer 3 releases for Linux, Mac, and PC sometime in 2021.
