Sony Confirms Big PlayStation Update After Leak – Full PS4 5.0 Update Notes Here
After an earlier leak, Sony has officially unveiled what PlayStation users can expect with the big PS4 5.0 update. For those that participate in Sony’s beta program, some of these updates are already available. For everyone else, here’s what to expect with the upcoming changes.
For those gamers that love to get their stream on, there will be vast improvements made to the streaming capabilities on the PlayStation system. PS4 Pro capabilities will see a 1080p stream quality at 60 FPS. For those PlayStation users that delve into the VR side of streaming, the new update will bring in additional 5.1ch and 7.1ch virtual surround sound support as well as the ability to see comments, messages, and alerts while online broadcasting. This move aims to make the transition between player and audience more fluid and accessible while streaming.
Account management will become easier with the PS4 5.0 update, as well. Sony is introducing the new “Family on PlayStation Network” to allow parental control customization to become inherently easier to modify between adult accounts and children accounts:
Friend management will also be implemented to create “Favourite Groups” – this will allow PlayStation users to make custom lists within their friends list. Keep your FPS crew and your RPG crew separate, if that’s your fancy. This change hopes to make the online community even stronger – raids have never been easier to assemble.
Message, notification, and menu changes are also incoming. Personalization, sharing enhancements, and more can be expected throughout the system UI. To see more about that and other system changes coming with the PS4 5.0 update, check out the full patch notes here.
