Fortnite: Super Mario Bros 1-1 Recreated In Playground Mode (VIDEO)

Fortnite

Fortnite may already present a touch of creativity with its signature building mechanic, but Epic Games led the way for even more fun introducing the popular Playground Mode. While in this space, players are free to create whatever they can imagine within the confines of the battle royale’s assets, producing numerous clever works since the mode went live. One player decided to go back to the retro NES days with their recent creativity, remaking the classic World 1-1 level from Super Mario Bros.

Credit for the creation goes to a Redditor by the name of Rowlus, who lovingly remade the Mario stage’s basic design. However, instead of power-ups, the build is sprinkled with ammo and loot as well as strategically-placed jump pads to better replicate the Nintendo mascot’s extreme leaping ability. The end of the level is likely the best touch of all, as the player’s win is celebrated with a joyous barrage of grenade launcher fire, a clear reference to Super Mario Bros‘ level-ending fireworks. While many have been utilizing their creative spark within Fortnite‘s Playground, many have supported the game through other means. One animator has shown their love through a wonderful animated short, and others have done so by opening an admittedly unoriginal “Battle Royale” park. We’ve also seen what a potential LEGO Fortnite collaboration could play like, and it honestly looks as cool as one might expect. Fortnite is available now for iOS, Mac, Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
