Fortnite Competitive Mode Confirmed By Epic Games
Fortnite has been having a stellar month, and the future looks to be showing no signs of slowing down. The game recently began featuring Thanos from the number one movie at the box office, Avengers: Infinity War, and the game just revealed its new solo showdown limited time mode. This announcement came shortly after fans discovered a folder labeled “Comp” added with the game’s latest patch. This folder contained a playlist labeled “Playlist_Comp_Solo”, which would seemingly imply a competitive mode for more than a solo player. Now, Epic Games has confirmed that a major Fortnite competitive play announcement is coming next week.
Epic Games recently announced the new Solo Competitive Play mode on their official website. This post lists many details about the new mode, including its features and the awards that players can win for trying it out, but perhaps the most interesting news comes from the end of the post. It seems that this solo mode is only the beginning for more competitive Fortnite activities, as it states:
We’ll be using the Solo Showdown as a one-off stepping stone to learn how to build great events for all types of players. If you crave testing and improving your own skills, give it a try and let us know what you think.”
The post then ends by saying that a major announcement regarding competitive play will be coming next week. The Solo Showdown LTM ends on May 21st, so it could be possible for the announcement to come as the event finishes on that day. Could this announcement involve a Duo Showdown or Team Showdown competitive mode? Only time will tell us. What do you guys think the Fortnite competitive play announcement coming next week will be?
