Looks Like Capture the Flag Mode is Here to Stay in Blizzard’s Overwatch! (VIDEO)

Good news, Overwatch players! If you’ve been enjoying the Capture the Rooster event going on now in Blizzard’s shooter, you’re in luck! This capture the flag style event was such a huge hit that the team decided to make it a permanent fixture in the game’s play options. Looks like Capture the Flag mode is here to stay in Blizzard’s Overwatch!

Jeff Kaplan, game director for Overwatch, updated players world-wide via a new video to let fans know of the newest addition. The latest game mode to be added as a permanent fixture will be available in Custom Games where players will be given the opportunity to tweak the rules of Capture the Rooster for a more tailored experience. The implementation of this capture the flag style gameplay will offer “tons of new options for you to play around with” which is another fantastic way to keep this title fresh for existing players, and enticing for new ones.

What makes it slightly different than the current Capture the Rooster set up is that there is more control over how the event takes place. Players can turn off hero abilities, they can lay down what can and won’t cause a flag to drop, and much more.

You can now go into payload maps and change payload speed if you think it should be faster or slower. You can change capture speeds on control points. In the control mode, you can go in and decide what rate does capture percentage accrue at. You can decide what heroes you want in the maps. If you think Tracer’s a problem in Escort maps, you can turn her off if you want.”

Looks like Bastion-haters can finally have their dreams realised – just turn the highly defensive player off, if that’s what tickles your fancy. This addition of next-level customization is a smart move for Blizzard, it really puts the power to the players and let’s the experience truly become what individuals are looking for. Speaking of experience – custom games are not exempt from earning XP so you can have fun wrecking the enemy team while still earning those sweet, sweet loot boxes.
