Fire Emblem: Three Houses Update Adds ‘Maddening’ Difficulty Mode And New Game Plus
While it took quite a few years for Fire Emblem to be properly exposed to audiences outside of Japan, the franchise has now become a popular fixture for Nintendo devices worldwide alongside Mario and Pokemon. The tactical strategy series promised a significant evolution with its newest game Fire Emblem: Three Houses. The title includes the new aspect of having the player character choose one of three nations to serve while tutoring in the Garreg Mach Monestary. While navigating these political and social systems can be gripping, some have claimed that the game has been too easy. For these players, a new update adds both the ‘Maddening’ difficulty and New Game Plus to the game.

As seen on the official Nintendo Twitter account, the new update for Fire Emblem: Three Houses recently went live, and as promised, gave the gameplay enhancements that players wanted. The big new inclusion is the Maddening difficulty level, which gives exceptional challenge for even veteran players. In Maddening, more enemies will appear at higher stat levels. The big boss enemies will also be more direct in coming after your favorite units. Upon completing the Maddening difficulty mode, the player will find that the title screen will be change into a special new screen.
Also included with the update is new DLC for those that purchased the expansion pass. This includes extra clothing for player character Byleth, such as a sacred floral robe and moonstone. Byleth also finds some dialogue changes, as his previous voice actor has been changed to a new voice actor after the original actor was faced with sexual assault accusations. Players will find many new reasons to replay the game with this new update, and experience each of the three houses in Three Houses.
