Final Fantasy VII Remake Update Adds PS5 Save Migration

Final Fantasy VII Remake Update Adds PS5 Save Migration

Square Enix is doing just a bit more prep-work prior to the release of Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade. With the launch date for the PS5 exclusive just a week away, the Japanese publisher has released a new update for the PS4’s Final Fantasy VII Remake that adds a save migration feature, perfect for those that don’t plan on starting fresh for the upgraded definitive edition of the game.

As reported by IGN, the main menu for the PS4 version of Final Fantasy VII Remake has a new option called Upload Save Data. Selecting this option opens up a menu that provides players with the option to select a save file to be uploaded, which can later be downloaded on Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade. Only one file can be uploaded at a time, though multiple files can be uploaded sequentially.

Within the Upload Save Data feature, a pop-up will surface confirming that all trophy data will be carried over from the PS4 to the PS5 version of the game. That said, the process isn’t perfect, with the menu warning that users “may receive multiple obtainment notifications in quick succession.” Those that have platinum’d the game or gotten close to it may need to wait a while to get through all the notifications. A small price to pay, really.

Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade is slated to release on June 10, 2021 exclusively for the PS5.
