Final Fantasy Tactics Director Reveals Images Of Canceled Sequel
Final Fantasy Tactics is one of those iconic games that fans can always go back to and have an extremely enjoyable time replaying it. Unfortunately it took quite a while for the game to grown in popularity, long enough that the planned sequel for the game was eventually scrapped. While the fate of ‘Final Fantasy Tactics 2’ has long been sealed, the director of the original game, Yasumi Matsuno, recently revealed several images from the sequel.
As reported by Nova Crystallis. the director showed off the images during a recent live broadcast. According to to Matsuno talks about an FFT2 began happening around the time Vagrant Story was being created. At that point there was some discussion as to whether or not Squaresoft could develop the game internally, though the decision was eventually made to outsource to a third party. Unfortunately the sequel was then canceled for a “number of reasons.” The images Matsuno shared can be seen below:
Based on the images it can be assumed that Final Fantasy Tactics 2 would have been ‘more of the same’ as the original game, and that would not have been a bad thing. Unfortunately all we have are these images. Thankfully the Final Fantasy series is still going strong, thanks in no small part to the massively successful Final Fantasy XV. Here’s hoping that Square Enix continues to do right by its fans and continues to crank out quality Final Fantasy games.
