Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remaster Announced For PS4, Nintendo Switch (VIDEO)

After fifteen years, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles is officially getting a remaster! Originally released in Japan on the Game Cube in 2003, the Square Enix spin-off of its most iconic series took players on a journey to protect the world from the dangerous Miasma. Featuring a single-player campaign with the option for multiplayer thanks to the Game Boy Advance, FFCC was well-received, and it looks like Square Enix is ready to breathe new life into the title. The announcement was made over on the official Final Fantasy Twitter account, which released a brief announcement trailer for the remaster. Check it out below:

Seen above, the official name for the remaster is Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered Edition, and the title will release at some point in 2019 for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch. It is important to note that for now, the game is only set to release in Japan, though it is likely that the West will also receive the remaster after its initial release.

Given that the original released on the Game Cube in 2003, there will likely be a myriad of quality of life updates given to the gameplay mechanics found within the game. Unfortunately, we won’t know what those updates will be until Square Enix decides to fill is in. In the meantime, at least we’ll have the Secret of Mana Remake to hold us over.
