Final Fantasy 14’s “The Legend Returns” Update Now Available (VIDEO)

Final Fantasy 14: The Legend Returns

Ever since the arrival of the Omega Deltascape raids, subscribers to Square Enix’s popular MMORPG Final Fantasy 14 have been experiencing a bit of a lull in content. Thankfully, update 4.1 – titled “The Legend Returns” – is finally here, and with it comes a new 24-player raid, new story quests, and the long-awaited new housing district titled Shirogane, located within one of the new areas in the game’s latest expansion, Stormblood. Square Enix released a new trailer highlighting the contents of The Legend Returns update, which can be seen below:

First and foremost, the new 24-player raid is one of the more exciting additions in The Legend Returns update, as it features a blend of Final Fantasy 12 and Final Fantasy Tactics location and character elements courtesy of the creator of both games, Yasumi Matsuno. Written by Matsuno, the raid takes place in the Royal City of Rabanastre, and will feature Final Fantasy Tactics characters Ramza and Delita, which was revealed back when the raid was teased back in September. The bosses found within the raid have all been designed by Keita Amemiya, who created the creatures in Shin Megami Tensei 4.

Another long-anticipated addition to Final Fantasy 14 is that of the Shirogane housing district, which is set in the Japanese-themed city of Kugane – one of the first areas players visit when beginning the game’s Stormblood expansion. Shirogane features 12 different wards, where players can purchase different sized (and extremely expensive) plots of land on which residential and Free Company houses can be build. As the Shirogane district is the first one to be added ever since the original three housing districts were implemented into the game, a significant amount of congestion should be expected when attempting to purchase a new plot of land.

Other new additions to the game courtesy of The Legend Returns update includes several new story quests, which will be available to players that have concluded the previous events of the Stormblood storyline. A new dungeon called the Drowned City of Skalla is also available, along with a harder version of the Shinryu trial that takes place in The Royal Menagerie. Additionally, a new set of beast tribe quests for the Kojin have been added, featuring unique daily quests and new beast tribe currency, not unlike the other beast tribe factions within the game.
