To give a bit of a better perspective as to the location of Hope County on a real map, a quote early on in the game mentions being “a few hours” Southwest of Missoula and suggests that Hope County resides in what is known as the Bitterroot Mountain Range and Lolo National Forest. Taking advantage of the game, Southwest Montana has partnered up with Ubisoft in order to showcase the gorgeous land and wildlife that the served as the inspiration for Far Cry 5.

Hope County” may be fictitious, but the mountains, rivers and wildlife that inspired Far Cry 5 are very real and based on the landscape of Southwest Montana.
