Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game Revived by Fantasy Flight – Huge for Tabletop Fans
Board games are a traditional past-time that have slowly faded away as relics in light of modern technology and in your face entertainment. Companies such as Fantasy Flight Games are trying to revive the culture that was once lost, and bring it out back out into the open beyond just the tabletop community. What better way to do that than with Star Wars? Fantasy Flight Games is reviving a classic game called Star Wars: The Role Playing Game forty years since the game’s initial release in 1987 by West End Games.
The original game featured an award winning ruleset and focused on space opera adventures through multiple starships, droids, creatures, characters, and various other realities creatively woven together. This not only allowed fans to continue living out their fantasies in a galaxy far, far away but ended up leaving a lasting impression for years to come.
Now 30 years after the original release, Fantasy Flight Games is getting ready to release a limited edition set of hardcover books for both Star Wars: The Roleplaying game and The Star Wars Sourcebook.
The Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game 30th Anniversary Edition faithfully recreates Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game and The Star Wars Sourcebook as high-quality, hardbound tomes that feature all the original game rules, information, and graphic design. These are printed on higher quality paper than the original versions and shrinkwrapped together in a stylized slipcase that features the original cover art on a clean black background.
Every bit as playable now as it was in 1987, Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game offers fast d6-based action along with unique takes on the ideas of roleplaying, designing adventures, running adventures, and the nature of the Force. The rulebook also introduces a full-length adventure, “Rebel Breakout,” and The Star Wars Sourcebook provides you with a wealth of information that you could use to populate additional adventures, including detailed descriptions of starfighters, capital ships, droids, aliens, blasters, lightsabers, and combat vehicles like the AT-AT and AT-ST.”
