Fallout 76 Twitch Viewership Lower Than Fallout 4 Viewership At Launch
Fallout 76 has been out for almost two weeks now, and the title has been the talk of the town in gaming circles. The massive game has provided many fun stories for players to experience, such as fighting the Scorchbeast Queen, and to share with others on social media sites. Easily the biggest site for sharing gameplay via livestreams is Twitch, which can sometimes provide interesting insight into a game’s public perception and performance. However, some recent Fallout 76 Twitch viewership statistics paint a somewhat downcast picture on the new game compared to its predecessor, Fallout 4.
GitHyp recently released some statistics regarding its Twitch livestreams and how they have been consumed by the public. The report says that the Fallout 76 B.E.T.A. before the game’s official launch topped out its viewership at 186,000. However, this number drastically fell once the game was made available to everyone, with the post-launch falling down to 106,000 simultaneous viewers. This is certainly an extreme plunge for the game, but the picture looks even darker when comparing these numbers to that of Fallout 4.
On launch day, 243,000 was the highest number of concurrent viewers that Fallout 4 had. This would mean that Fallout 76 has much more than a 50% decrease in maximum viewership for the franchise compared to the aforementioned. Now, there could be many factors contributing to this sharp decline, such as the beta and full release day providing two different “launch” days for onlookers to witness. 76 also released much closer to the Thanksgiving holiday than Fallout 4 did when it launched, so busy holiday schedules might also be a contributing factor. No matter the case, Bethesda would be wise to heed this news and bring more improvements to the game and promote it with new audiences.
The franchise is by no means facing an apocalypse, but it may want to find a vault soon to prepare for the future and reclaim their territory.
