Fallout 76 Reclamation Day Officially Recognized By West Virginia Governor
Fallout fever has certainly hit the gaming world this past week with the official launch of Fallout 76. The game has excited fans with new online-focused gameplay that brings a new type of experience unlike any previous game in the series. Fallout 76 also introduces fans to a new map set in West Virginia. The real life state of West Virginia has been quick to jump at the opportunity to work with Bethesda to help promote the game, and in return invite the tourism of Fallout fans to their state. That said, the state has now taken another step in this initiative by officially recognizing November 14th as Reclamation Day.
Thank you West Virginia! Your beautiful state has been an incredible canvas for #Fallout76, and the support from your community has been truly wonderful.

For those unaware, Fallout 76 begins with the player’s character waking up in Vault 76, apparently after a long night of partying to celebrate Reclamation Day. This in-game holiday is meant to celebrate the day the Vault-dwellers are let out back into the world outside the enclosure, to reclaim the world befallen to nuclear destruction.
Bethesda recently shared photos on their official Twitter account of documents sent to them by real life West Virginia Governor Jim Justice. The photos show that Bethesda received an official Proclamation document from the governor in celebration of Fallout 76’s release.
The document recognizes the representation and depiction of the state in the game, including its real-life monuments such as the state’s Capitol building and the Harpers Ferry National Historic Park. Knowing that this will encourage players to visit the real state, Governor Justice officially declared November 14th, 2018 as Reclamation Day in the state of West Virginia. This is a neat little crossover of both the digital and physical realities of West Virginia coming together in a fun way. Hopefully the real West Virginia doesn’t have any rabid two-headed dogs or radioactive dragons.
