Fallout 76: How Nukes Work and How to Protect Yourself (VIDEO)
Another QuakeCon is upon us, and with it, Bethesda has used the timely opportunity to not only celebrate their Quake community, but the fans of their other big franchises as well. Bethesda has rewarded Doom fans this weekend with the first look at Doom Eternal gameplay, and as promised, have provided more information about Fallout 76. One of the biggest new features to be introduced in Fallout 76 will be the opportunity for some players to utilize nuclear weapons against their foes. Now, a new Q&A session at QuakeCon has provided many new details about the Fallout 76 Nuke system.
Todd Howard and other Bethesda greats graced the QuakeCon stage for a special live-streamed Fallout 76 Q&A session, now available in its entirety on the official Bethesda YouTube channel. Towards the last ten minutes of the session, the big nuclear elephant in the room is brought up to the special guests. While the new Fallout 76 Nuke system excites some fans, it has given fear to others about potentially losing their in-game items or camp forever.
It seems that Bethesda’s main message regarding nukes during this season was to reassure fans that not all will be lost with this feature should a player befall a mushroom cloud sent their way. According to Bethesda’s Chris Mayer, nukes will indeed kill players on the receiving end, as well as destroy any camp structures in the blast radius. However, Bethesda is including a new blueprint system which will allow players to essentially backup the plans to their camp and rebuild it or simply move to another location if enemy players begin to hone in.
The blueprint system also will allow for players to strategize defensively when facing a nuclear strike. Since the blueprint system also for rebuilding, and the Camp system has portability, with enough warning, players will be able to move their camp and hopefully avoid total decimation. This will certainly be a convenient feature for players to wield, and players spending hours and hours on their meticulously designed bases will be appreciative of Bethesda’s consideration of preserving their hard work. Hopefully the system will have itself well balanced when the game officially launches like a missile on November 14th.What do you guys think about the Fallout 76 Nuke system?
