Fallout 76 Dogs Won’t Be Available Unless Enough Fans Request Them

Fallout 76 Dogs

Fans are drooling at the bit for the official release of Fallout 76 next month. Even with the Beta already in action for Xbox One users, and soon for everyone else, Fallout loyalists are still eager to jump head first into the ravaged nuclear wastelands of West Virginia. Bethesda excited many with the promise of several returning Fallout mainstays like Power Armor and the VATS system, but there has been no word on another iconic piece of Fallout. Dog companions have bene noticeably absent from the promo material for the game so far. Now, Bethesda has commented on whether fans will see Fallout 76 dogs at launch.

Recently, Bethesda’s Pete Hines appeared at the PAX Australia conference to talk about the ambitious new game. As reported on Twitter by Eddie Makuch, Hines confirmed to a crowd that there would indeed not be any dog companions at the launch of Fallout 76. The audience reportedly responded with a variety of boos and negative reactions. Replying quickly, Hines gave hope for the dog-lovers, saying that there would be a possibility of companions being implemented into the game in the future, provided that there is enough fan outcry to warrant it.

Considering the complex nature of this new Fallout project, one can understand Bethesda’s decision. The new game is adding many elements into the series, and with the complication that is online play, not worrying about dog companions might make the game run smoother, as Bethesda irons out the other flaws. Hopefully, fans remain vigilant about requesting canine friends in the game, and that Bethesda will act in kind by throwing us all a bone.
