Fallout 4 Capital Wasteland Mod Resumes Development

Capital Wasteland

Those anticipating the Capital Wasteland mod, which is the recreation of Fallout 3 inside of Fallout 4, were disappointed when the project was cancelled early last year. The team working on it decided to end development after concerns were raised regarding the voice acting that would go into the mod. Essentially, they didn’t want to put their relationship with Bethesda at jeopardy over any legal kerfuffles.

That said, it has officially been announced that Capital Wasteland is back in development. Project lead NafNaf_95 took to the mod’s website to disclose that work had resumed, albeit slowly. “In the past year since the cancellation announcement a small but dedicated group of people from the original team have continued to slowly chip away at this gargantuan task,” they said in a recent update. “Progress has been slow considering the active team is now smaller than 10 people but none the less we cant wait to show you what has been done during that time.”

Referring to the reason why the project was put on hold in the first place, they said, “after finding some incredibly talented people we have decided to attempt re-voicing the game, Other audio such as music will have to wait till such a time as we have people capable of dealing with it.”

In a separate update from co-lead HcGxGrill, it was said that “This is a very big undertaking as there are approximately 45,000 voice lines in Fallout 3. We are looking for people to join our team; as of right now we only have a handful of people working on this project.”

The Capital Wasteland team is looking to fill many positions, including animator, programmer, various artists, and especially voice actors. If you or anyone you know is looking to join the project, you can find everything you need right here.
