The Elder Scrolls VI Will Be A Game That People Play For “At Least” A Decade
Last year, Bethesda announced that the next installment in the popular Elder Scrolls franchise – The Elder Scrolls VI – was officially something fans could look forward to, though there was no release window given other than ‘several years out.’ Thankfully, it appears that the game is being developed in such a way that people will be playing it for a very long time once it does get here, so it will likely be worth the wait.
The news comes by way of the man, the myth, the legendary Todd Howard, who recently sat down with IGN to discuss both The Elder Scrolls VI and the studio’s other major upcoming title, Starfield. During the interview, Todd Howard revealed that the overall goal for The Elder Scrolls VI is for it to have the same longevity as Skyrim which, as many know, has been ported what feels like a countless number of times at this point, and is still played religiously by fans. Howard also brought up that people won’t really understand the scope of the game until they actually see it, though it is being developed in such a way that people will be playing it for “at least” a decade. “On one hand, I think it’s good to miss things. I think that makes people come to it with really really fresh eyes,” Howard said.
When you eventually, eventually see the game and what we have in mind [you’ll] understand the gap more in terms of technology and what we want it to do.”
Based on what Todd Howard says, there will more than likely be some impressive tech backing the game, which will more than likely be making its official debut on the next generation of consoles. Here’s hoping it’ll be worth the lengthy wait.
The Elder Scrolls VI is now in development.
