Dragon Age 4 Will Reportedly Be Built On Anthem’s Code
An aspect of BioWare’s latest intellectual property, Anthem, that can’t be argued – the visuals are stunning. Despite its turbulent launch, the team at BioWare have done a phenomenal job at creating a massive and well-crafted world to explore. If recent reports are to be believed, it won’t be the last we see of it either. Rumor has it, Dragon Age 4 will be developed using the technology Anthem was built upon.
In the latest report on BioWare’s science-fiction shooter from Kotaku’s Jason Schreier, BioWare will change take the turbulent launch of Anthem and pivot toward a new method of developing a triple-A title. Instead of creating an entire world from scratch, the personnel working with studio director Casey Hudson mentions that it “will be built on Anthem’s codebase.” He goes on to quote a former employee who stated:
I think Anthem might be the kick in the butt that BioWare leadership needed to see that how you develop games has changed dearly. You can’t just start fresh and fumble your way forward until you find the fun. That doesn’t work anymore.”
It looks as though BioWare is turning to new strategies in terms of building up their existing properties, especially one as distinguished as Dragon Age. So, what significance does Dragon Age 4 ‘s use of Anthem’s technology have? It could result in a relatively easier development process for the creators at the studio. The foundation that Dragon Age 4 will reportedly be built upon could streamline the creative forces behind the next big video game launch for BioWare.
For the time being, the team is hard at work releasing regular updates on Anthem. There’s no doubt that there are a good percentage of gamers would like to see prolific franchises like this thrive, but not without a solid methodology that rewards both the creators and the consumers.
