These Custom Detective Pikachu Air Jordans Are Electrifying

With only a few days before Pokemon is goes live-action in the Detective Pikachu movie, an especially spiffy pair of sneakers have revealed themselves to the world, boasting the look of the iconic rosy-cheeked investigator. These electrifying kicks were debuted by none other than Metal Gear Solid movie director Jordan Vogt-Roberts, who showed them off during this week’s Detective Pikachu premiere in New York.

Posting to Twitter, Vogt-Roberts offered a closer look at his shocking new shoes, sharing his Pika-fied pair of Off-White Nike Air Jordan 1s with fans. Crediting sneaker artist Stomping Ground Customs, these particularly stylish Jordans were customized with bright yellow highlights as well as lightning bolt-shaped designs to replicate the mouse Pokemon’s distinct tail. Another clever detail can be found in the side straps, which seem to subtly recreate Pikachu’s pointy ears.

As these custom AJ1s were made specifically for Jordan Vogt-Roberts and his quest to stun Pokemon/sneaker aficionados, it’s likely these Pika-shoes won’t go on sale anytime soon. Though, that doesn’t mean fans can’t get their Poke-fix elsewhere, as the franchise is seemingly everywhere these days; featuring in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, an upcoming new Nintendo Switch game, and still rocking the popular Pokemon GO mobile game after nearly two years. That’s not to mention the other Pokemon movie hitting this year, a remake of the first Pokemon movie Mewtwo Strikes Back.
