Bungie Understands Destiny 2 Players Are Unhappy – Releases Follow-Up Statement

Following the poorly received response to the community’s request for better end-game content for Destiny 2 last week, Bungie releases a new statement. Unfortunately for the developers, “friendship” wasn’t as popular as they had hoped. To many within the community, it sounded more like a scapegoat or excuse rather than a promise to take action and generate more content. In this week’s update, community manager Cozmo addresses Destiny 2 players candidly. Bungie knows Destiny 2 players aren’t happy, and they’re constantly looking at the forums to get a better understanding of what the fans want, but it’s going to take time:

Ever since launch, there has been feedback posted anywhere and everywhere that discussions about Destiny 2 happen on the internet. I’m always dialed into our own feedback forum, as well all other avenues you travel to share your ideas with us. Some topics are as broad as “ways to make the Crucible more fun.” Some are much more specific, like “Add a method to mass delete shaders.”

We’re reading as much of your chatter as we possibly can. There are millions of you, after all. One thing we have noticed is a lot of discussions about the Endgame and how it can be improved. Right now, these discussions are also happening in our studio. We are listening, but need time to digest everything and draw up the best plans for the future. We will have more to say on this soon. Please stay tuned, and keep the conversation rolling.”

According to the heavy discussion in the Bungie forums, players agree that there was a lot of good in the original Destiny game. While, yes, new and improved content needed to be made for Destiny 2 to be a true sequel, but what made the first one so good didn’t make it over. Perhaps there wasn’t a deep enough understanding of what the community wanted or development simply didn’t happen the way it was supposed to. Nevertheless, there’s a lot of work to be done, but the developers will need a little time.

Hotfixes and updates continue to support the game each week and Bungie will likely elaborate further on their long-term goals and ideas. One of the biggest critiques from the community is the need to fix Iron Banner and a much better tokens and rewards system. In other words, the game isn’t rewarding its players and that’s a problem.

What do you think Bungie should focus on following all the community feedback?
