For fans who don’t have the Destiny 2 Forsaken expansion, the concept of the Gambit multiplayer mode may be a bit lost. Bungie is seeking to change that this weekend by opening up the game mode to Guardians who haven’t had a chance to check it out yet. This means 4 maps will be available for players to check out, and if they have been on the fence about the expansion this is a good opportunity to check it out risk-free.

The Gambit game mode was released with the Destiny 2 Forsaken expansion and features a PvE/PvP style of play that many have found enjoyable. Basically, two teams of four battle it out against waves of enemies released by the other team. While doing this, players can collect “motes” that allow them to disrupt the other team and take short breaks from the waves. Check it out for yourself in the video below:

Gambit makes up an essential part of the Destiny 2 Forsaken expansion which means this free to play weekend will give players a good feel for what the add-on has to offer. The free trial will give players access to all of the Gambit maps, and the enemy pool will be bursting with variety that wasn’t as prevalent in previous events. If this is the first time a player is checking it out, Bungie has a crash course strategy guide to help get them started.

For those interested in checking out the free to play weekend, it begins September 21st at 10 AM PT/1PM ET. Purchase of the expansion is unnecessary, however, players just might want to drop the cash on it after a few rounds of fun. The event is open to any and all Destiny 2 players and runs until the same time on September 23rd.
