Destiny 2 Faction Reward Mishap Prompts Another Apology From Bungie

Destiny 2 Faction Reward

It is beginning to seem like for every Destiny 2 update that gets implemented, there must be an apology from Bungie for something the developer did wrong. The recent Bungie bungle (I’m coining the term) is in regards to a Destiny 2 Faction Reward exploit that allowed players to earn “hundreds of Faction Tokens per hour without firing a single shot”. To rectify – or at least mitigate – the issue, Bungie implemented a change that limited the number of faction tokens players could earn, though the developer’s explanation in regards to the change was found wanting, as was the way faction weapons would actually be released.

“We have heard player feedback that this solution was too disruptive,” Bungie community manager Cozmo said in a new blog post. “We’re looking at a change that won’t make players feel forced to run to and from a single chest for hours while also not placing a hard stop on enjoying Lost Sectors. We want to ensure that every time you open a chest there is loot inside.” The community manager also apologized for the developer dropping the ball in regards to communication, as the method in which the faction weapons would be rolling out was communicated, to say the least, poorly. “It was not made clear beforehand that the new Season 2 weapons would be added throughout the events of the Season rather than all at once in the beginning,” Cozmo said.

This was on us. No excuses. We will be remedying this lapse in communication next week with details on what you should expect when the next Iron Banner rolls out in Season 2.”

Bungie has taken on quite a bit of heat recently due to some poor decisions by the developer, though up until now communication has been the developer’s strong suit. Hopefully Bungie rectifies the issue internally and puts its best foot forward in future communications.
