New Death Stranding Gameplay Footage Revealed At Gamescom 2019 (VIDEO)
The opening night for Gamescom 2019 brought with it loads of new gameplay footage, from the streets of Palm City in Need for Speed Heat to the frontlines for the fight for humanity in V1 Interactive’s Disintegration. Saving what could easily be considered the most highly anticipated for last, The Game Awards creator Geoff Keighley brought Hideo Kojima out on stage to end the night on the highest of notes, where the father of Metal Gear revealed loads of brand new footage for the upcoming Hideo Kojima Productions title Death Stranding.
The first set of Death Stranding trailers unveiled at Gamescom 2019 featured a deeper look into the characters Mama, Bridge Baby, and Deadman, after which Kojima-san teased those in attendance by suggesting that the other footage he planned on sharing would instead be reserved for the Tokyo Game Show. Thankfully he ‘changed his mind’ and decided to show the footage anyway. Check it out below:
There’s plenty to unpack here without even getting into the fact that the Ludens Fan NPC was modeled after Geoff Keighley and voiced by Matt Mercer, because of course it was. Other interesting things to note was the player controlling Norman Reedus’ character Sam while he, erm, relieves himself, which somehow manages to introduce a glowing mushroom into the environment. All that combined with the full blown motion-controlled baby-rocking made for an interesting Death Stranding experience.
Thankfully we won’t have to wait too much longer before we can get our hands on the full thing, as Death Stranding releases exclusively on the PlayStation 4 on October 8, 2019.
