Dauntless is the PC Game that Monster Hunter Fans Have Been Begging for (VIDEO)

Monster Hunting games have a huge potential, and untapped, market. Games like the Monster Hunter series, Toukiden, and Turok have large fan bases and great communities. People love hunting monsters, dinosaurs, and creatures of legend together. Dauntless is set to be the next big game of the genre, allowing co-op play with up to four other players to hunt large powerful beasts, and it look stunning.

Dauntless was first revealed last year in December, at the Game Awards. The flashy trailer showed off a cartoon-like story where four hunters face off against a large owl-like creature. It was a big hit, and people have been waiting to see more on this game. A free-to-play co-op game, Dauntless is being developed by Phoenix Labs, with staff formerly from Blizzard, BioWare, and Riot Games. Now, going in to PAX South this weekend, PC Gamer got hands on with the new game in an attempt to hunt down and kill two of the games behemoths. You can hear their thoughts on the game with the below video.

The demo being played is just combat, so there is no information on how loot, crafting, or other elements of the game will work. The combat is combo-based – players will have to use dodges, different attacks, and movement to get the most out of their damage. A stamina bar will need to be watched closely, and the enemy attack animations will have to be learned in order to be successful in any given fight. It certainly looks like it’s going to be a fun game that will be a lot more than hack and slash. You can see the full, unedited fights below.

Dauntless is due to have open beta this year, with no release date confirmed as of yet.  Are you looking forward to hunting the behemoths? Let us know in the comment section below and don’t forget to stay tuned with DFTG for all of your gaming needs!
