Cyberpunk 2077 Release Date Won’t Be Delayed, CD Projekt Confirms

Cyberpunk 2077 Release Date

The year 2020 seems to be the year for delays, with several anticipated games receiving postponed releases due to varying circumstances–though lately as a consequence of the worldwide COVID-19 outbreak. The Last of Us Part II has been the most recent title to see an indefinite delay, with more expected to happen as the pandemic continues to spread. However, it appears CD Projekt RED is confident they’ll launch on time as the studio has assured the Cyberpunk 2077 release date will remain unchanged.

Confirmed in a recent blog post (H/T Prima Games), CD Projekt reflected on the past year’s success and looked forward to the company’s future Cyberpunk 2077 release. President and CEO Adam Kiciński assured the game was still planned for September 17th as the team works from home amid the Coronavirus pandemic. “There is no shortage of motivation and we also possess all the tools needed to facilitate remote work,” Kiciński said. “We’ve been operating in this mode for over three weeks and to-date results confirm that we can carry on with all our operations without major disruptions.”

Our plans haven’t changed – we’re steaming towards the September release of Cyberpunk.”

This mention that September 17th would still act as a Cyberpunk 2077 release date is likely a welcome revelation for fans as more and more projects from around the gaming and wider entertainment industry are continually delayed. However, considering September is still five months away and the COVID-19 pandemic still hasn’t reached its peak, it might be unrealistic to assume we’d be completely out of the woods until then.

Cyberpunk 2077 is set to release for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on September 17th.
