Cyberpunk 2077 Fan Film Gets Augmented With Cosplayers (VIDEO)
Cyberpunk 2077 is still several months away from release, but it is easily one of the most anticipated games of the year. The game has excited many with its colorful, but also dark and edgy, version of the future, and fans have found many ways to share their excitement. This has ranged from creating Cyberpunk as a PS1-style game and cosplay that crosses over with CD Projekt Red’s other big franchise, The Witcher. Fan Films have been a common way for devotees to express their passion and now a new trailer for a Cyberpunk 2077 fan film has been released, with the project featuring several collaborating cosplayers.
Filmmaking group T7 Pro has released the new Cyberpunk 2077 fan film trailer on their official YouTube channel. Titled ‘Cyberpunk 2077: Phoenix Program,’ the project is being created in collaboration with several cosplayers starring as Cyberpunk 2077 characters, with Vi-Dan Tran directing the project. A special co-production credit goes to Maul Cosplay, who portrays Johnny Silverhand in the film. Maul Cosplay is well known for his Geralt of Rivia cosplay, which made him an official cosplayer for CD Projekt Red for many events and videos, and his resemblance to Keanu Reeves as Silverhand is quite stunning.
The fan film also stars Stylouz Cosplay as protagonist V, Gong Bao as Big Bao, and Kamiko Cosplay as a slave girl. Sadly, the coronavirus pandemic has temporarily suspended production, but thanks to many fan contributions, the project is set to resume with plenty of a budget once it becomes safe for the cast and crew to resume. The trailer really seems to capture the look and feel of the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 game, the action looks like it is going to be of cinema-quality choreography, and the special effects are quite dazzling. Even if this doesn’t get the official approval of CD Projekt Red, what’s more punk than being a rogue indie film like this?
