Close To The Sun Is A Game For Those That Love BioShock And Tesla (VIDEO)

It has been quite some time since we’ve had a Bioshock-esque title sweep us off our feet, but our prayers may have finally been answered in the form of Close to the Sun. Developed by Storm in a Teacup, the Close to the Sun announcement trailer recently debuted, and it appears to contain an interesting mix of that classic Bioshock charm with some Nikola Tesla thrown in. Check out the reveal trailer below:

As seen in the trailer, players take on the role of Rose, who appears to be a journalist trapped aboard the ‘Helios’ ship in an alternate version of the 19th century. Rose is there to locate her missing sister, according to publisher Wired Productions. Tesla created the ship so that scientists could work on projects that would typically be condemned by governments the world over, so it’s basically Rapture with 100% more science. Here’s the breakdown of the gameplay, courtesy of the developer:

  • First-person horror adventure where surviving is everything.
  • Problem-solving in order to progress the story: just what happened on board Tesla’s ship?
  • Danger aplenty as Rose pieces together just what happened, having no real means to defend herself.
  • Teamwork with an ally who helps Rose navigate her way through the ship’s artistic halls
  • Nerve inducing exploration – defenseless and weaponless, the keys to Rose’s survival are running, hiding, and quick thinking.

Close to the Sun will launch at some point in 2019.
